Getting Your Priorities Straight: A No-BS Guide for Entrepreneurs

Let's be real - as an entrepreneur, you're probably drowning in to-do lists, "urgent" emails, and about a million different priorities competing for your attention. Been there, done that. Here's how to cut through the noise and focus on what actually matters.

First Things First: What's Actually a Priority?

Before we dive into systems and strategies, let's talk about what makes something a true priority. Ask yourself three questions:

  • Will this move the needle for my business in the long run?

  • Can I actually make this happen with what I've got right now?

  • Is this the right time to tackle this?

If you're not nodding "yes" to at least two of these, it's probably not a real priority.

The Priority Pyramid: Your New Best Friend

Think of your priorities like a pyramid of champagne glasses at a wedding (stay with me here). The top ones need the bottom ones to work:

Grab a coffee and spend 30 minutes asking yourself:

  • What actually worked last week?

  • What needs to change based on what's happening now?

  • Are my priorities still making sense, or am I chasing squirrels?

Split your week like this:

  • 40% on keeping the lights on

  • 40% on growth stuff

  • 20% on future-focused work

And yes, some weeks will be a mess. That's okay - just try to get back to this split when you can.
